Welcome to Grade 5!

As students enter the senior school in Grade 5 at Pearcedale Primary School, they are faced with new challenges and responsibilities that will help to prepare them for their final year of primary school.

The students participate in the 1:1 BYOD iPad program which allows them to maximise their skills with digital technologies and complete set classroom tasks within a safe and collaborative online environment.

In Literacy sessions, students take part in Daily 5 activities that include Work on Writing and Word Work. Reading is a major focus at Pearcedale Primary School this year and students are expected to begin each day reading their level books to teachers and parent helpers.

In Numeracy, students are supported by an inquiry based approach to problem solving that encourages them to apply their expanding mathematical knowledge to real life situations.

The students are involved in all of the Specialist programs on offer and have the opportunity to be a part of Pearcedale Primary School’s amazing Wakakirri team, where they can audition for a role and represent our school in the story dance competition. They also have the opportunity to attend a camp in Waratah Bay as well as a History excursion to Sovereign Hill. Students love getting involved in the popular ‘Passions Projects’ and ‘Genius hour’ sessions and enjoy a variety of special days and lunchtime activities that cater for a range of student interests.
